At just 13 years old, Kailash is already reshaping the global music scene. A gifted singer and multi-instrumentalist, he’s widely regarded as a musical prodigy. Born in California but deeply connected to his African roots, his journey is a vibrant tribute to both his heritage and his passion for music.

An African Identity at the Heart of His Music

Kailash, whose middle name Tsepo pays homage to his African ancestry, proudly embraces his heritage. His great-grandfathers, Ntate Lekokoto Nteso from Ha Seetsa and Ntate Ra Maurice Manyeli from Mokhokhong, as well as his grandparents, Ntate Tsepo Nteso and Dr. Jane Mookho Manyeli, emigrated from Lesotho to the United States. Today, Kailash and his family are settled in California, but his connection to Africa remains stronger than ever.

His latest creation, Ke Mosotho, is a shining example of this connection. Sung in Sesotho, the language of his ancestors, the song proudly asserts his African identity. The inspiration for this track came during a memorable trip to Lesotho in May 2024. There, in the town of Hlotse, Kailash collaborated with his uncle, writer and poet Ntate Mpho Lekena, to craft the lyrics of this ode to his roots. Upon returning to California, Kailash developed the musical arrangements that bring Ke Mosotho to life.

A Talent Shining from a Young Age

Kailash’s musical genius emerged early in his life. By the age of three, he was already studying classical piano with a music teacher, immersing himself in the fundamentals of music theory. By five, he began formal vocal lessons, refining a voice that was already brimming with potential.

Today, Kailash is not only a talented pianist but also an accomplished vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, impressing with his musical maturity. In addition to his piano studies, he has competed in numerous music competitions, winning awards throughout California.

A Rising Career

In 2021, Kailash made his debut at reggae music festivals, joining reggae legend Don Carlos for a series of memorable shows along the U.S. West Coast. But his rise didn’t stop there. In 2022, he formed his own band and released his debut album, Across the Ocean, in 2023. This album marked a turning point in his career, revealing an artist ready to embrace his musical destiny.

Despite his young age, Kailash has already worked with renowned reggae artists such as Don Carlos, Clinton Fearon, Ponto de Equilibrio, Kubix, and Scientist. In 2021, he was nominated for Best Young Artist at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA), a recognition that highlights his immense talent.

A Legendary Team for a Unique Track

Ke Mosotho marks a crucial step in Kailash’s musical evolution. He recorded the vocals, keyboards, and percussion for the track in California. To perfect the project, he surrounded himself with exceptional musicians: Grammy Award-winning guitarist Kubix, Troy Simms on saxophone, Jeremy Redd Lion Gray on drums, and Spliff McQueen on bass. The final touch was added by Jamaican music legend, Scientist, who mixed the track along with a dub version, a development sure to excite reggae lovers worldwide.
