After nearly two decades as a drummer for various reggae bands, aDUBta has fully dedicated himself to the sounds of reggae from the '60s to the early '80s. With his debut album, Sounds From The Attic, released in 2023 through Oneness Records, aDUBta quickly gained international recognition as a producer. Alongside musical collaborator Mauricio-Joran Ceseña (The Black Oak Roots Allstars), they recorded a collection of riddim instrumentals at aDUBta's Attic Roots Studio.
In February 2024, a pivotal moment occurred when Marcus I joined aDUBta in Germany to write and record vocals and harmonies. This collaboration showcased Marcus I's exceptional songwriting talent and distinctive voice, resonating deeply with roots-reggae fans. To finalize the project, aDUBta polished the mixes and recorded the dubs entirely in analog on his Tascam 388 mixing console, adding an authentic touch to their production.
Their first single, Heavy Manners, marks the beginning of a new wave of releases. The track has been sent to the press via F-Spot Records and is now ready to take over sound systems worldwide.
An Inspired Collaboration
Heavy Manners draws its influence from American soul, as well as early reggae and rocksteady sounds from Jamaica. aDUBta, a producer and musician from Bavaria, Germany, teamed up with Marcus I, a notable songwriter and singer from the southern French roots-reggae scene. Together, they crafted a collection of work inspired by the iconic sounds of Studio One from the 1960s. This uplifting single, characterized by its flying-cymbal style, is a true vibe setter and dancehall burner.
