🔺 A powerful visual trilogy denouncing gun violence

Independent reggae artist Minna LaFortune unveils today a rare and deeply moving project: a visual trilogy centered around her single “Cease Fire”, a true plea for peace in a world scarred by gun violence. The release includes an official music video, a lyric video, and a dub version, all available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.

🔥 An urgent message carried through music

With “Cease Fire,” Minna LaFortune sheds light on the lives shattered by firearms, particularly within Black communities. From Jamaica to New York, and through Haiti, Trinidad, and Soweto, the track offers a painful yet necessary account of a too-often-silenced reality: grieving families and young lives lost too soon.

“Cease Fire is a prayer, a call to cease fire in our streets, in our hearts, in our minds.” – Minna LaFortune

🎥 An international visual trilogy

The official music video, directed by Shantel Bradford of Shantilee Media Productions (Ghana), delivers a global and emotional portrayal of this heartfelt cry for peace.

The lyric video, crafted by Nigerian visual artist Abdulqudus Olamilekan, powerfully emphasizes the song’s lyrics, inviting all to reflect.

The dub version offers a hypnotic immersion into Minna’s Jamaican roots. It will also appear on her upcoming album, Dance With Me, Volume 2, slated for release in June 2025.

“Dub is a way to heal the soul. It gives the message a unique emotional depth.” – Minna LaFortune

✊🏾 An anthem to protect the next generation

Cease Fire” is more than a protest—it’s a pathway toward healing, urging us to choose love, solidarity, and peace as the foundations of a better future. The track especially speaks to young Black men, who are too often the first victims of urban gun violence.

The timing of this release, just ahead of the summer months—a period that often sees a rise in gun-related incidents—is symbolic. Through this choice, Minna LaFortune transforms her music into an act of activism.
