Montego Records: Three New Albums to Delight Reggae Fans Worldwide

Montego Records, LLC, an iconic reggae label, is back in full force with three brand new authentic albums that will thrill reggae enthusiasts across the globe. These albums embody the true essence of reggae – Roots and Culture, Lover's Rock, and Dub Instrumentals – and are now available on all digital platforms. Founded in Jamaica and active since the early 1980s, Montego Records continues to celebrate the soul of reggae with unwavering passion.

"Welcome To Greenwich Town" – A Tribute to a United Community

"Welcome To Greenwich Town" is more than just an album; it is a heartfelt tribute to a united community. Every artist featured on this album, along with everyone involved, was born and raised in Greenwich Town. For King Shark, the singer and producer of this project, it is deeply personal: "We used to run up and down together, cook together, laugh together." Originally known as Green Farm, LTD in the 1980s, the label has grown into Montego Records, LLC while maintaining its values of brotherhood and togetherness.

The music and lyrics of this album are timeless, meant to inspire for years to come. King Shark expresses his gratitude to Jah for giving him the chance to grow up in Greenwich Town, allowing him to love and support his brothers such as Earl Zero, Sylvan White, Peter Rankin, and Ras Marlon. "It is such an honor to be a part of bringing their music and messages to the world. Blessings."

"Instrumentals To The Fullest" – Honoring Greenwich Town's Musicians

With "Instrumentals To The Fullest," Montego Records highlights the talent of musicians born and raised in Greenwich Town. This album is a testament to the incredible talent of reggae instrumentalists whose contributions are often overlooked. "Reggae music is all about the players of the instruments, for they are the ones who listen to your voice and make the music," says King Shark.

The album features extraordinary musicians like Earl "Chinna" Smith, who started playing with a homemade guitar, and has now become one of the greatest reggae guitarists, contributing to countless hits over the years. Flaba Holt, from the Roots Radics Band, adds his signature basslines to the album, while Paul Crosdale, also from the Roots Radics Band, has been captivating the reggae scene for decades.

Percussionists Harry T Powell and Santa Davis add a magical touch: Powell, with his years of experience playing with artists like Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, and Davis, whose drumming calls upon the angels for unity among all people. Each musician in this album brings their unique touch, making "Instrumentals To The Fullest" a truly remarkable work.

"Green Farm All Stars" – Reggae Legends United

"Green Farm All Stars" brings together legendary artists and notable compositions that speak to the rich heritage of reggae. Cedric Myton, from The Congos, shares his sweet melodies that have enchanted listeners for decades, while King Kong, with his distinct vocal style, continues to charm reggae fans. Kiddus I, with his powerful cultural messages, and Admiral Tibet, with his inspiring and profound lyrics, add an unmatched depth to the album.

Prince Alla, another reggae legend, is a humble and inspiring figure. King Shark fondly remembers mornings when Prince Alla would come to his house, knock on his window, and say: "Shark, let’s sing together. You know you’re my little singer, right?" These childhood memories have blossomed into authentic collaborations that resonate throughout this album, filled with emotion and nostalgia.

Montego Records: A Story of Passion and Brotherhood

For over 67 years, music has been at the heart of Alphonso "King Shark" Henclewood's life. A proud native of Greenwich Farm, a working-class community in Kingston, Jamaica, King Shark grew up surrounded by reggae legends such as producer Bunny Lee, singers Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Cornel Campbell, Johnny Clarke, and Prince Alla.

These latest productions from King Shark, through Montego Records, reflect the joy, brotherhood, and authenticity of reggae that marked his upbringing. Now based in New Mexico, Montego Records continues to uphold the legacy of this music filled with history and emotion.

For over 30 years, Montego Records, LLC has been dedicated to offering a unique repertoire of original music, celebrating the spirit and soul of genuine reggae singers and musicians. Whether you are a fan of traditional roots reggae, dancehall, or are looking for contemporary and innovative sounds, there is something for everyone in the vast Montego Records music catalog.
