August 1-3, 2025, the small town of Piercy, located in southern Humboldt County, California, will once again come alive to the rhythm of Reggae on the River, the iconic festival celebrating reggae culture since 1984. After an impressive return in 2024, ROTR is back with an exceptional lineup for its 36th edition, raising the bar once again.
An International Line-Up of Legends and New Sounds
🎤 Friday, August 1st: Alborosie Kicks Off the Festival
Italian-Jamaican artist Alborosie will open the festivities as headliner. Known as the first European artist to truly break through in Jamaica, Alborosie is a living symbol of musical and cultural fusion. After leading the Reggae National Tickets band in the '90s, he moved to Jamaica in 2000, where he refined his roots style with deep influences. Since then, he’s been dropping international hits, collaborating with legends like Chronixx, King Jammy, Protoje, and more, and touring the globe. His return to Reggae on the River promises to be a moment full of authenticity and conscious vibes.
🎤 Saturday, August 2nd: Mr. Vegas and Tarrus Riley Double Headliner
Saturday night will be filled with diversity and stage presence with Mr. Vegas, a true hitmaker in the Jamaican dancehall scene. From timeless classics like Heads High, Hot Gal Today, and Bruk It Down to collaborations with Major Lazer, Beyoncé, and Shaggy, the artist is an unmatched showman. His latest single Alive proves he’s still at the top of his game.
And that's not all: Tarrus Riley, one of the most respected and in-demand singers on the international reggae scene, will also be performing that night. The son of legendary Jimmy Riley, Tarrus carved out his own identity with iconic songs like She's Royal, Gimme Likkle One Drop, and Lighter (with Shenseea and Rvssian). His return to ROTR is highly anticipated!
🎤 Sunday, August 3rd: Busy Signal to Close the Show in Style
To close this unforgettable weekend, Busy Signal will take the stage. A versatile artist who blends reggae, dancehall, afrobeat, and even gospel, Busy made a significant mark during his 2018 performance at ROTR – some fans even consider it one of the best live shows ever. With an impressive catalog including One More Night, Come Over, Reggae Music Again, Stay So, and more, we expect an electrifying finale on Sunday night.
A Festival with Deep Roots, Committed to the Future
More than just a musical event, Reggae on the River is a pillar of reggae culture in the United States. Born in the heart of the Emerald Triangle, famous for its lush nature and alternative spirit, the festival has always been supported by the Mateel Community Center, a nonprofit organization advocating for culture, inclusion, and music as a social connector.
Every year, the festival’s profits go to supporting community projects, giving the event a unique feel, far from the ephemeral commercial festivals. Participating in ROTR means being part of a story, a family, a movement.
